Winn's Delight

Cooking has always been a family affair.

Mum loved to cook.
Dad loved home-cooked meals.
With both parents working, we two girls were taught to help out in the task of cooking the family meals from a young age.

I remembered those days when Kitchen Aid was but an object of luxury, mum would put the eggs and sugar in a big bowl, and dad would be pounding away with all his might and endurance, using a metal spring pounder... whatever that was called. All for the sake of a freshly baked cake from the old fashion round oven. How many husbands nowadays, would sit down on a weekend to do this for their wife's baking? My daddy's a darling.

This looks just like the mixer that dad would use  to beat the eggs and sugar with . Can't believe I could still  find a picture of such a thing.... sweet.

We've came a long way since those days of hand mixing batter.
With all the modern equipments, it is so much more fun and less sweat to get a cake on the table.
Yet the passion for cooking everything from fresh ingredients, walking through the processes from the basic, every step of the way remains.
The more complicated and meticulous the process, the more fun it seems to me. Like an excitement that made the heart leaped with anticipation.
Others take the challenge of climbing mount Everest.. I thrive in the face of so called
"complicated-cooking".
Friends think that I attain my 'inner peace' through all the bits of fine work in the kitchen..

Thus birth Winn's Delight.
A hobby
A Passion
An Obsession (almost...)
